南京大屠杀发生之前,他把家人送到香港避难,然后只身返回南京,受到日军阻拦。

My father has brought me to China many times.

Every time I see the beauty of Nanjing today,

I find it hard to imagine what happened here in the winter of 1937.

When I first learned about the Nanjing massacre in 2016,

I was too young

to fully comprehend the weight of this dark history.

But as my understanding deepened,

my biggest take away is that

though the atrocities have ended

and Nanjing has been reborn,

the call for empathy and

I constantly ask myself what can I do?

I believe that as the survivors of the Nanjing massacre grow older,

the younger generation must take responsibility,

take up that baton of memory and
接过记忆的接力棒
ensure that people around the world can learn the truth of what happened in 1937.

I think the biggest issue with telling people outside of China about the Nanjing massacre
我认为向中国以外的人讲述南京大屠杀时
is the incredible amount of ignorance about it.
最大的障碍在于人们对这段历史的陌生
We should use every medium available,
我坚信要善用现有的多元媒介
to spread the truth across diverse platforms both in China and beyond.

This year, I participated in a workshop on the translation, publication

and international communication of the history of the Nanjing massacre.

The workshop brought together participants and experts from the United States, Germany, China, the Netherlands and other countries.

This experience made me understand

to achieve global peace

and create a better future,

we must work together beyond borders.

When we look at issues like the denial of the Nanjing massacre by certain right wing groups in Japan,

I think the atrocities that occurred in Nanjing are well documented
我认为包括日本在内的许多国家的
by international witnesses and historians
国际目击者和历史学家
from many countries including Japan.

Acknowledging these facts is not about assigning collective

guilt to any people today.

it's about respecting truth and honoring the victims
